Wonder (2022) is a watercolour self-portrait encapsulating a moment in my ongoing process of finding and redefining myself. As a response to my culturally diverse background and constant questions surrounding cultural continuity and self-conception, the work depicts one of many nights I spent reflecting alone in my room. I look into the mirror on my desk, using the reflected image as a space for self-examination, I let my wonder set me free. Created to the theme Me and My Place, Wonder centres the “me”: a moment of reconfiguring and recalibrating how I understand my identity and who I am as an individual.
